Magnus Betnér

the First Swede from FTW to enter the UK last June, famous for his tremendous striking power, is a magician in the field of bringing attention to the most serious of topics. Topics that no one else dares to poke fun at.
He is extraordinarily skilled in
turning established truths inside out. A master of finding the hysterically funny, when you least expect it. By delivering the lines with a high profile self-esteem, combined with a great knowledge, Magnus Betnér is an invincible comedian on stage, attracting hundreds of thousands to his TV and live shows. Magnus takes his new one hour show to Edinburgh in August this year called, Cum all ye faithful.

“With his general dislike of mankind, controversial subject matter and
ability to flip without warning into a loud rant, it would be easy to
compare Swedish comic Magnus Betner to Bill Hicks.”
DUNCAN HALL,
The Argus -Brighton

Dag Sørås

entered the UK last October to do a couple of shows which went don’t a storm, little did he know but Steve Bennett, the well respected writer from Chortle happened to be in the audience.

When Dag Sørås heard the Bill Hicks album “Rant in E-Minor” in the late 90s, he realised that stand-up comedy could be so much more than brain-dead entertainment. Fuelled by a desire to express something more than mere jokes (as well as trying to impress a girl) he went on stage for the first time in 2002, and he has rarely looked back. Even though he sticks out like a sore thumb in the Norwegian comedy scene, Sørås has made a big impact among his peers in the last few years. He won the award for “newcomer of the year” in 2007, and has been nominated for “stand-up of the year” twice. Aside from constant touring, he has done TV and radio comedy shows, and he writes regular political articles. But his main passion is stand-up and now he is doing more than just dipping his toes into the UK. This year he makes his Edinburgh debut. Hard-hitting, politically charged and brutally honest! Afghanistan, bestiality, social anxiety, conspiracy theories and religion are just some of the springboards Sørås bounces off before plunging head first into a deep pool of controversy. Be in no doubt – this is exceptionally skilful comedy for those not interested in being patronised or pandered to.

Given the uncompromising nature of his thoughts, Sørås’ stand-up is definitely not for everybody, but all the more rewarding for those who choose to come along for the ride.

After supporting Doug Stanhope two years in a row in Norway, Dag will now be opening up for his friend and fellow sicko at London’s Leicester Square Theatre on september 7-11. Miss at your own peril!

‘His grim nihilism brings a crucial sense of authenticity to his dark attitude …brutally funny lines which could make him a quite a force in sick comedy’ Steve Bennett Chortle

Agneta Wallin

Agneta came over to the UK last summer and did a few shows in London and got such a taste for it that she has been striving to get back but with all her heavy demands to perform here in Sweden, this has been impossible. However Agneta recently took part with all the Comedians on this English page at the Brighton Comedy Festival in May and will also be part of The Stockholm Syndrome show in the Edinburgh free festival . Agneta is a very hard hitting punching comedian who writes very cleverly and takes you off guard with comedy when you can’t see where it can come from.

Fredrik Andersson

is one of the most prolific writers on swedish TV also decided last year that he wanted, (just like Magnus Betnér) to give the UK a go which he did opening at one of the most toughest and longest running UK comedy clubs ‘The Bearcat in Twickenham’, where he delivered a short 10 minute show. Not only did he take the roof off, he blew the bloody doors off as well! When Fredrik left the stage the MC struggled to bring the energy down, before introducing the next act, as there were still demands from the crowd to bring back Fredrik!

This was the first of many comedy rooms in London where Fredrik has gigged and now that he has the taste will be doing much more in the UK and for the foreseeable future. Fredrik along with Aron Flam and Agneta Wallin will can also be seen at this years Edinburgh Free fringe festival where between them they perform a show called The Stockholm, Syndrome. Don’t miss it if you are there.

Aron Flam

took part in this May’s Brighton Fringe Festival and was the first time that he performed comedy in the UK. Aron is one of the most engaging darker performers that you will ever see. He has an extraordinary ability to engage an audience and keep them focused on him in almost a hypnotic state.

Aron won the amateur championship, Komikaze of the year, and rookie of the year at The Swedish Stand-up Comedy Awards.

Aron delivers razor edge wit – with a peculiarly cynical view of the world.

“[His] jokes are beautiful insults of humanity!” – Bob Slayer

“With dead-pan and surgeon like precision, he succeeds in delivering comical points that provoke fits of laughter, as well as shivers down your spine as he exposes uncomfortable truths with sincere seriousness.
Komikaze

Lasse Nilsen

If ever there had to be a comedian with a golden ticket as in the book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate factory’, it has to be
Lasse Nilsen and his ability to perform mime like no one else can
, as Lasse is a
Phenomenal Stand Up! In Lasse Nilsens body, there is a devil of a comedian, somewhat unique in its kind. Stand up comedy in a much wider format than the traditional. Visual Nilsen takes another step with his eminent body language, his wit and his knowledge of history. Without giving too much away, Lasse will be taking a show to this years Edinburgh entitled, The Mine Who wouldn’t Shut up. When you see it perhaps you’ll want to change it to The Mime who Couldn’t shut up.

Tobias Persson

comes to London Town and will soon go on to becoming a well known face in all the UK Comedy clubs. Tobias has a very unique childlike presence that is warm, friendly and animated. A comedian that makes full use of the stage and voice projection to be able to deliver comedy with the most effective striking power. Tobias hasn’t been long in the UK but is now becoming one of the most sough after comedians, as everywhere he has played, he has been demanded to return. He has already played such venues as The Comedy Store, The Comedy Cafe and The Soho Comedy Club

This year Tobias will take his one hour, one man show to this years Edinburgh free Fringe titled ‘Call me Old Fascist’,

“Thoughts that are likely to strike a chord, and they are concisely, effectively put.” Steve Bennet, Chortle
